Cotswolds Medicare

Locums/Salaried Doctors required for work in Bullingdon Prison

Cotswolds Medicare is a new organisation set up by two Oxford GPs to provide GP services to Bullingdon Prison over the next 6 months.

At present we have a large number of sessions available to fill, weekdays and weekends. Each session is 3 hours long, and sessions run from 0900-1200, 1300-1600 and 1830-2130.

We would be very keen to hear from anyone interested in working from a few occasional shifts to full-time work over the rest of 2010. Pay is competitive.

Prison general practice is interesting and challenging, and experience in this setting is very worthwhile, and useful for future career development. GPs interested in working at Bullingdon will receive a pre-employment briefing and be provided with general advice and details of local policy. You will work alongside the prison drugs and alcohol team, the psychiatric team as well as a group of very experienced nursing staff. There is also an excellent health administration office within the prison.

Most of the work will be routine GP-style clinics, but in a prison environment. However, there is also an opportunity to work in the in-patient unit, to review prisoners who have just arrived, and to attend to emergencies.

Please email cotswolds.medicare@gmail.com for more details, or speak to Drs Alistair Hallam (07725 631925) or Shahram Bajwa (07917 765 700).
