LMC Advice >>> Child Health Information Service - Immunisation Data Request

|Issue date: 02.11.18|
LMC is aware that practices have received the email below requesting retrospective child health data searches and a switch to electronic child health data collection, together with the attached communication document. LMC has challenged the CSU on this and they agree that this work is entirely optional.
Despite this clarification, we understand CSU are still sending out reminder emails asking for this work to be done.
LMC reassures practices that a retrospective 20 year search is not required as the data already has been sent to CHIS, furthermore there is no statutory or regulatory requirement for practices to do the search they request The ongoing weekly electronic reporting requested is entirely optional, practices are free to continue to send paper reports as there has been no change in the regs or direction requiring them to do otherwise. Practices may choose to engage with the weekly electronic submissions if they so wish, but this is entirely optional.
Practices are under no obligation to do this work, and it is entirely discretional.

Subject: Child Health Information Service – Immunisation Data Request
Dear Practice Manager,
Child Health Information Service – Immunisation Data Request
As part of a regional and national drive for improved data completeness for Child Health (0-19 Year Olds) GP data we are requesting that your practice runs a report that will extract all new registrations and immunisations that have occurred since the 1st October 1999 through to the day the Report is run.
Attached are the instructions on running the reports - Please use the correct instructions for your practices IT System.
Once completed please return the results to – firstname.lastname@example.org
This needs to be completed by the 19th October 2018 and thereafter an on-going weekly extract will be needed as part of your NHSE requirements to share child health data.
These new Reports now replace any existing reports or paper that your practise has been historically returning to the Child Health Information Service thus saving you time.
We will be in direct contact via phone and email in the coming days to follow-up on this email.
