Charlbury Medical Centre is a semi-rural practice, on the edge of the Cotswolds between Chipping Norton and Witney, with a train station on the London to Worcester main line and a twenty five minute drive to Oxford by road.  Charlbury is a picturesque Market Town, with a thriving community, it has a selection of shops and businesses including a primary school.  

We are a 5,500 patient, part dispensing practice looking for a 6 session experienced or newly qualified GP to cover Maternity leave until April 2022.  We currently have two GP partners, three salaried GPs and a full complement of support staff along with a Managing Partner.  Our team is stable and friendly which is reflected in our effective and happy working environment.  The electronic patient record systems and software packages used at the Medical centre include EMIS Web, Docman, e-consult and Accurex.

We have an excellent working relationship with our District Nurses and Health Visitors and work closely with the midwives and Local Hospice as well as excellent and supportive links with secondary care.  At present we have no nursing homes in our area.

We have access to the CCG early visiting service (paramedic can perform urgent on the day visits) and an urgent appointment hub in Witney.

Overview

The vision of The Hall Practice is to provide the best possible care that we can for our patients by delivering safe and high-quality patient-centered services.

The Practice

We are a dynamic 14,500 patient teaching, training and research practice, at the forefront of medical informatics, involved in local medical leadership looking for a 4-8 session GP(s). Both our practices are semi-rural and dispensing, within cycle-distance from Oxford city. We have just moved into our brand new purpose-built premises in April, which includes our own pharmacy. Our patients are appreciative and we have a team of GPs who recognise the importance of a good work-life balance. We work in a locality that offers a visiting service and weekend clinics.


The Work

We run a list-based system for continuity and a total triage system with a capped number of untimed appointments per session. We train GPs and students from various training schemes and universities. As a research and training practice we value professional development for which you will have a personal study budget and monthly protected meetings.


The Opportunities

If you are an existing or aspiring GP trainer you can join our team of three trainers covering two VTS schemes.

There is also the unique opportunity for you to develop an interest in Gynaecology through a locally funded training scheme to run a GPWSI clinic at Long Hanborough.

If you are looking to work weekends or extended hours then you are able to do this through us.


The Team

We have built a large and cohesive team of clinical and non-clinical staff to work alongside of us. A paramedic and advanced nurse practitioner work with the duty doctor. Our clinical pharmacists are supporting medicines management and hospital prescription requests. The document workflow is triaged and coded by our summariser team. Our Pathlinks team checks and actions our results daily. We work in buddy groups that allow part-time working and clear the desk while you’re on leave.


The Life

You will have 6 weeks annual leave, 1 week study leave and the opportunity to take a sabbatical if you wish. Our salaried GPs have allocated time with their mentor on a six-weekly basis. We meet for coffee twice daily and eat lunch together. Regular Cake Wednesdays build team morale and satisfy any cravings. Many of our team have joined the local running club (not related to timing of Cake Wednesdays).
